As mentioned in a previous blog post, this year we started a year-round internship program with three 4-month cycles per year. We finalized our internship offer negotiations a few weeks ago, and I figured it would be worth updating people on how things went.

Long-story short, we were really pleased with the interest we received, given the compressed timing of this internship cycle compared to what we’d like to do in the future.

Here are some key stats:

  • We received 49 applications total for this cycle
  • Of those, 40 met our application format requirements and were evaluated
  • Of those, we were able to interview the top 10 candidates
  • We were able to finalize two offers by March 8th (within a week of our original goal).

2021 Summer Cycle Interns

Without further ado, I’d like to introduce our two Summer 2021 Cycle Interns: Madisen Purifoy-Frie and Ethan Sinclair:

Madisen is an undergraduate at the University of Colorado Boulder. She currently is a junior majoring in Aerospace Engineering and minoring in Computer Science, Astrophysics, and Space. She has previously worked on design, build, and test of a C20 removal tool for ISS, and has worked in the Sounding Rocket Lab at University of Colorado. She is also interested in Ham radios, weather balloons, photography, and was a professional figure skater.

Ethan is a fourth-year student in Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology with a minor in Aerospace Engineering. Since 2017, Ethan has been involved with CubeSat projects at Georgia Tech, and he is also the chassis lead for a Formula SAE racecar team. He has previously interned at SpaceX and Northrop Grumman Innovations Systems. He has also built a custom Quadrotor during his personal time, and is an Eagle Scout.

We’re excited to have Madisen and Ethan join our growing team for the summer!

Fall 2021 Cycle Coming Up!

We will start accepting internship applications on April 1st for our Fall 2021 internship cycle, which runs from September through the end of December. The application window will run from April 1st through May 14th.

If you’re open to an internship at a non-traditional time of the year, we’d love to hear from you. And remember to check out the application format instructions here, and some tips and advice in a previous blog post here.
